There are 125,000 sweat glands in the feet. The soles have more glands per square centimeter than any other part of the body. These glands release sweat throughout the day to help keep the body cool and the skin moist. Apart from this, there are most of the dead skin cells in the feet. When dead skin and sweat meet, bacteria and fungi grow.
